Education
Mary is excited to start her 12th year of teaching here at Wakefield School. Before teaching, she worked as a primate biomedical researcher with the National Institutes of Health for NIA and NIAID. Mary started her teaching career and spent eight years teaching Agriculture Sciences: Veterinary Science, Livestock Management, Equine Science, and Small Animal Care before transitioning to Middle School Science. Passionate about making science fun and engaging, she enjoys creating memorable classroom experiences that inspire curiosity in her students. She and her husband, a Firefighter/EMT in Loudoun County, are raising their two children, Henry (9th grade) and Heidi (7th grade), in Clarke County, where they enjoy life on the family farm with dairy cattle, goats, pigs, lambs, rabbits, chickens, dogs, cats, and other small animals. When not caring for the animals, Mary and her family enjoy spending their time outdoors, especially at the beach. |
