Jonathan "Jack" Bordonaro genuinely loves learning and finds meaning in opportunities to help others. He is excited to join the Wakefield School and plans to take full advantage of the multitude of opportunities available to the school community. Jack is goal-oriented and driven to become a neurosurgeon because of his deep value for the brain. Jack hopes to apply his love of science and math to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
At Wakefield, Jack looks forward to participating in varsity sports, including cross country and swimming, and serving as a campus advocate for health and wellness. Jack plans to conduct independent research on the effects of microplastics on the motility of brine shrimp and submit his research findings to the 2026 Regeneron Science Fair. Jack is currently working to found a chapter of Mu Alpha Theta (National Math Honors Society) at Wakefield to create new opportunities for peer tutoring in math. He hopes to increase appreciation for math in both aficionados and in those who have not previously found the joy of solving problems using math. In the summer of 2025, Jack was a participant in the United States Medicine and Disease Olympiad.
Outside of school, Jack is an avid runner who will compete in the 2025 Army Ten Miler. He also has a deep passion for swimming. Jack swims for the Piedmont Tsunami swim team, where he excels in freestyle and butterfly. Jack also participates in fundraising events for the Alzheimer's Foundation in honor of his late grandmother. Jack believes "Everyone has the opportunity to be the best versions of themselves, both mentally and physically. It is incumbent upon us to take advantage of that opportunity."

Phoebe Brownfield, recipient of the 2025-2026 Archwood Scholarship, joined the Wakefield community in 7th grade. She enjoys learning through coursework and travel. Phoebe puts in a lot of hard work into her studies and is honored that Wakefield recognizes it.
Since attending Wakefield, Phoebe has been one of the Wakefield representatives at Foxcroft's STEAM challenge for girls in 2024 and 2025. She was nominated to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference, where she spent a week at the University of Maryland learning how to grow and thrive as a leader. Not only was she awarded the History Award in 8th grade, but she was also inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.
Phoebe is passionate about giving back to her community. Because of her deep love for animals, she volunteers at Doe Eyes Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. At Doe Eyes, she raises money, socializes adoptable pets, and has persuaded her family to adopt a dog in need; her beloved beagle, Larry. She also spent a summer crocheting 20 hats to donate to a children's cancer treatment hospital.
Outside of school, Phoebe enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, playing volleyball for the Wakefield team, and traveling the country.
Phoebe is tremendously appreciative to receive this award and cannot wait to continue her academic and social journey in the Upper School.

Noah Crahan is honored to have been chosen as the recipient of the 2024-2025 Archwood Scholarship Award. He is humbled to be able to represent the Wakefield School community as a student ambassador, wellness champion, and student government representative. He is a motivated leader who has embraced the academic rigor that Wakefield provides, allowing him to develop critical thinking skills and apply knowledge in real-world situations.
Noah is a dedicated student who is always willing to explore new opportunities and utilizes his experiences to create a meaningful moral compass to guide him into adulthood. He is inspired by science and engineering, which allow for hands-on applications to problem solve. He finds joy in solving mathematical concepts and learning about historical events and looks forward to experiential learning opportunities outside the classroom.
When Noah is not in class, he strives to create a deeper connection within the community. He enjoys playing soccer, squash, and lacrosse for Wakefield, in addition to serving as a certified USSF soccer referee. When he is not playing sports, he serves as a local coordinator for the Virginia Department of Transportation's Adopt-a-Highway program to remove litter from neighborhood roadsides. His involvement in this program
was a direct result of his participation in the 9:57 Project, which encourages leadership traits in young people to impact the world around them in a meaningful way. He has also been selected to work with the Youth Conservation Corps, completing environmental projects that will help preserve outdoor access to Virginia State Parks for years to come.
Noah is incredibly grateful to the Wakefield School leadership team, educators, coaches, and auxiliary staff for the opportunity to represent the school and community as an Archwood Scholar. He is thankful for the ongoing support and encouragement he has found in his home away from home through the amazing school community here at Wakefield.
"If you are a student or parent reading this and decide to become a part of the Wakefield community, I look forward to meeting you!" adds Noah.

Lauren Dietrich, recipient of the 2023-2024 Archwood Scholarship, resides in Gainesville, VA; she attended schools in Haymarket and Warrenton, VA. She very much enjoys school, learning, making friends, and has put effort into her academics and sports endeavors.
She learns things that are new in what she achieves; she looks forward to learning and excelling in an educational journey by attending Wakefield School, while receiving a classical education. She excelled at her previous schools academically and in sports, and was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.
Lauren manages her studies and sports proficiently, balancing these endeavors. At Wakefield, she looks forward to excelling in equestrian skills via Wakefield’s program at Beverly Equestrian. She grew up around horses and other animals and has been riding competitively for many years. She enjoys tending to the needs of the horses at the farm she rides at.
When Lauren isn’t studying, riding, or engaged in other sports, she spends time outdoors with family and friends. Always trying something new and adventurous in her life.
