Wakefield fund

The Wakefield Fund empowers every Wakefield Owl to soar higher, providing an exceptional education that goes beyond what tuition alone can offer.

A Wakefield education is an extraordinary investment in a student’s future; however, tuition alone doesn’t cover its full cost.

The Wakefield Fund bridges the financial gap—covering 11% of our school’s yearly operating budget—to power the programs, experiences, technology, and resources that bring the Wakefield Mission to life.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes an immediate impact, ensuring that every Wakefield student receives a transformative education that nurtures character, curiosity, and clear voices for lifelong success.

“Wakefield’s existence is owed, in large part, to the generosity of families and faculty that came before us. We deeply appreciate what they have done and hope that our contributions will help continue the tradition for years to come.”

What is an annual fund?

An Annual Fund is a crucial fundraising initiative that supports operational expenses at non-profit independent schools like Wakefield. As a vital revenue source, it supplements tuition income to help cover the school’s annual operating budget. Through tax-deductible donations from parents, family members, alumni, faculty, trustees, and friends, a school's Annual Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition and true operating costs each year, ensuring a stable income to sustain the school’s educational mission and programs.

Why does Wakefield ask for donations on top of tuition?

Tuition income covers only 89% of Wakefield’s annual operating budget. The Annual Fund exists to fill the 11% gap not covered by tuition.

While tuition provides the essentials—quality teachers, small class sizes, and the upkeep of our facilities and campus grounds—the Wakefield Fund ensures the programs, experiences, technology, and spaces that deliver the Wakefield Mission. Simply put, the Wakefield Fund allows our school to go above and beyond what tuition alone can provide.

Each year, Wakefield relies on the steadfast generosity of our parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends. Your voluntary tax-deductible contributions ensure we can continue to offer the personalized attention and transformative learning that define a Wakefield education.

How are donations to the Wakefield Fund used?

Contributions to the Wakefield Fund create an immediate and lasting impact, fueling every element that makes Wakefield a leader in a liberal arts education, including:

  • Exceptional educators who inspire, teach, and mentor
  • Small class sizes for personalized attention and instruction
  • A robust curriculum built on experiential learning and interdisciplinary discovery
  • Dynamic learning environments - the STEAM & Robotics labs, the Outdoor Classroom, and our Makerspaces
  • Educational technology and innovative learning programs
  • Enriching Field Trips, including immersive international excursions
  • Outdoor learning utilizing our 63 acres of abundant natural resources
  • Performing Arts facilities, stage equipment, instruments, and technology that bring our vibrant productions to life
  • Trainers, athletic equipment, uniforms, and facilities to support our more than 15 sporting programs
  • Professional development of faculty, keeping our teachers at the forefront of educational best practices
  • Financial Support to ensure inclusivity and socio-economic diversity
  • And so much more
Why not raise tuition to cover all operating expenses?

Wakefield School is committed to keeping tuition increases minimal, ensuring affordability and stability for our families.

We believe a diverse student body is crucial to creating an environment where all students thrive. By prioritizing socioeconomic diversity and bolstering our resources through community-driven charitable giving, we can make a Wakefield education more accessible and inclusive.

Why is Parent Participation important?

At Wakefield, we strive for 100% parent participation because it showcases the strength of our community’s commitment—something that attracts significant grants and donations from foundations and philanthropists.

With your involvement, we have the exciting chance to accomplish even more together, advancing the Wakefield Mission and shaping an extraordinary future for our students!
